Elli De Mon – Wild Women Don’t Have the Blues

The book “Wild Women Don’t Have the Blues” is an ideal follow-up to her previous publication, “Countin’ the Blues. Donne indomite” (Arcana Edizioni, 2020). Together with the album of the same name – both released by Area Pirata Records – it is a journey into the memory and soul of early blues, a poetic atlas that weaves together stories, the body, and resistance. Through twelve emotional maps, the author guides us on a musical, political, and spiritual journey, a pilgrimage through the forgotten voices of Black women who transformed pain into song, marginalization into power, and anger into art. Somewhere between essay and narrative, philosophy and autobiography, the blues becomes a practice of knowledge, a way to find one’s bearings in chaos, to recognize the power of those who, through song, said “no” when everything demanded silence.
