Madison, thanks to his talent as a songwriter (Pikes in Panic – I Barbieri) wrote five songs and asked to Frank Croco (guitarist in the garage band The Gloves) to arrange them. Frank accepted and brought some more 60s style songs. Three months later John Amato (guitarist from The Quarrymen) joined the band along with Paul ‘The Muppet’ as bass player. Eight months later the B-Back recorded their debut album “IN TIME!” with Area Pirata label, followed by “SECOND HAND” in december 2006. During this time they had many gigs in Italy and abroad. On Summer 2008 Paul Muppet left the band and Zara Thustra (bass player in Skum) joined the B-Back. The new line up worked out well from the beginning: in October the band had two gigs in Berlin and in December they recorded the third album “EXPERIMENT IN COLOUR”, out on February 2009.

REVIEW

Goran Obradovic – Shindig #10 04/09

I’m sure no Shindigger needs further explanation upon seeing an album title like this. Some might expect to be taken to a more colourful and psychedelic audio sphere, while the Fuzz, Flaykes & Shakes reference is enough for us to know that the ’66 time barrier is not likely to be crossed too often. The snarling Jagger-through-Aguillar-esque vocals keep the reference points close enough to each other throughout most of the album, with only an exception or two such as The Music Machine-like pair of extra masculine punkers ‘Gin Fuzz’ and ‘Almost Gone’, with the latter sounding kinda like the ‘Machine covering an unknown Graham Gouldman tune. The ones that provide a more-than-usual British feel, are ‘Senior T.T.’ (by way of The Small Faces, complete with a mock accent), along with the Medway-powered pair of ‘Whan I Love You’ and ‘Out Of Control’. Not too much of an experiment, but more than worth your dime if mid’60s garage-punk revival is your kinda thing.

Francisco – Rock Around the Blog 27/03/09

“Experiment in Color” is not a regular record, as third album of B-Back, shines the collaboration of Matteo Addabbo, who sounds more related to the “Hammond” which plays in perfection, ornament this record with “farfisa” sounds, emphasizing the flexibility that the formation of B-Back has, beyond that producing a strong record of “garage” they had added ingredients more “sticky” to jump over the traditional rhythms of “fuzz”, the differences between songs as “Gin Fuzz” and “When I Love You” are representative of what we find in this record, perfect marriage between the “garage” and traditional “punk” without much ornamentation, the term is really “Experiment In Colour”.

Fuzz Overdose Webzine – Greece 04/09

Italy’s B-Back are here again with a new bassist and a brand new release called Experiment In Colour. Of course, this is a well known band, with two very good records already out, but they’ve really done it this time. From start to finish, Experiment In Colour is a solid record with top grade tunes, a hifi punchy production and top performances. Every shade of guitar is used, from nasty fuzz, to folky jangle and lysergic tremolo, the bass is nice and low, and when the Farfisa kicks in, everything is elevated to higher states.
The three original members share songwriting credits and lead vocals, and this makes for a very diverse record. All kinds of stuff can be found here, from Back From The Grave type Garage Punk, to proto Acidpunk, from floorfilling R&B, to teatime Brit Popsike, but all is passed through the B-Back prism, to come out as a hi energy maelstorm, certain to be a regular in your playlist for years to come, making this a late addition to the great records of this decade.

Gabor Kleinbloesem – Strutter Magazine (NL) 05/09

B-BACK is an Italian band with a retro-Rocksound that captures the spirit of the 1960s (THE WHO, THE KINK, STONES), yet also is comparable to KAISER CHIEFS. They sound actually as good as the British movement acts from the past few years, with 12 very short uptempo Rockers on their 3 rd album ‘Experiment in colour’. With a limited edition of 600 copies, this album will definitely go down in Rock history as a wanted item among collector’s of the Garage Rockgenre. Raw, rough and real Rock is what we get to hear, with songs like “Misunderstood”, “Gin Fuzz”, “Almost gone” and any other song on this release an easy target for fans of pure 1960s British Garage Rock. These Italian musicians do their job very well and really make you believe this is a re-issue of some long lost album release from 40+ years ago.
(Points: 8.2 out of 10)

INTERVIEW

Fuzz Overdose Webzine – Interview by Tolis Ap. 10/09

The B-Back were born in October 2003 when Madison Wheeler (drums and vocals) dropped his previous band, Ray

Daytona & The Googobombos. Would you like to talk about it? Can you talk a bit about your

personnel changes?

Thanks a lot, it’s passed a long time since we record our last work; the songs were ready for a long time,

and, with the entrance of Zara trhusta (new bass player), in december ’08 we went in studio and in a few days

we recorded “Experiment in colour” , and we love it! The first album called “In Time” sounds more direct, I

mean “rough” almost “a live set” . In “ Second Hand” the second album, we hear a psychedelic vain, with a lot

of beat colours.

Can you talk a bit about your personnel changes?

Here we have a more edited sound. In “Experiment in colour” we can hear much more garage/punk sound and a

much more thick sound. Regarding the composition of the songs, we like to think that we have the same

inspiration from the ‘60s and ’80s garage, beat, rock n roll, blues root…..

You share the lead vocals duties. Why is that?

We all love to sing (eh eh)

What’s your relationship with Area Pirata like?

They are our producers and distributors. They are the first who believe in us, almost blindly!!!

What’s your view on the Garage scene nowdays?

There are a lot of new garage bands grown in the last years. The problem is that in Italy a lot of live set

directors don’t wont to invest in the “new” scenes and prefer to hire a “guns ‘n’ roses cover band (or tribute

band, you know)”

You seem to prefer vintage instruments. Are they essential for a Garage band? Are you collectors of vintage

instruments? What are some of your prized pieces?

We don’t think they are essential; is not essential to have EVERYTHING of the last 40 years (even if it

could be fantastic)…. A lot of the new things sounds good… We discovered the vintage instruments because they

sound better , and at the time we bought them they cost less than the new ones. They sound better, more loud

than new ones, but they obviously give more problems…..No, not collectors, we need them!!! (smile)

You still maintain a 60’s look. Is a vintage image important for you and for all Garage bands?

We don’t know if it’s important, we go to work with the same “orizontal stripes shirt” and haircut that we

use on stage (smile)

Do you have any plans for the future?

We have some shows this summer in Italy and 4/5 new songs. We intend to go back in studio no later than

2010. There’s a lot of people who listen to what the TV and radios broadcasts. We hope that sometimes, someone

choose what he want to hear.

[1992
0":"post-36045","1":"product","2":"type-product","3":"status-publish","4":"has-post-thumbnail","6":"product_cat-cd-digipack-en","7":"product_tag-garage","9":"first","10":"instock","11":"shipping-taxable","12":"purchasable","13":"product-type-simple
["GET
