Lupe Velez – 21st Century Sucks

The Lupe Vélez were formed in Livorno in 2014 around the songs and vision of Stefano Ilari, gradually shaping a sound that blends garage rock, rock’n’roll and influences from the British and Australian rock scenes. After releasing the Mystic Man EP in 2015, the band went on to release the album Weird Tales in 2018 together with Area Pirata Records, further establishing their place within the Italian independent rock scene.

In May 2026 the band returns with 21st CENTURY SUCKS, a collection gathering recordings made between 2019 and 2025, consisting of the singles released exclusively in digital format in 2023 and 2025. The album will be available as a limited-edition CD, with exclusive distribution once again handled by Area Pirata Records.

Despite the challenges of the independent music landscape, Lupe Vélez have never stopped moving forward, continuing to rely on their own energy, determination and DIY spirit. Over the years, the band has remained united through live shows, personal challenges and a shared rock’n’roll attitude.

The official album release party will take place on May 23rd at Surfer Joe in Livorno. And this is not the end.
