Roosters - All Of Our Days CD
(CD version with a different artwork. The Roosters have been known among fans and followers of the Californian mid-'60s folk rock scene for a long time. Their 'One Of These Days' b/w 'You Gotta Run' 45 has been included on early garage compilations and is a huge favourite among collectors. Less well known is their second and at least as brillant 45 'Rosebush'/'Ain't Gonna Cry Anymore'. Additionally there's a rare 1965 surf/mersey punk single released under the name Five More, an early 1965 acetate put down as The Avengers and most of all, three 1966 stunning unreleased folk/garage janglers recorded at Gold Star Studio. This collection finally puts all these gems in one place and unravels the enigmas behind the band on an LP sized full glossy insert with a detailed history of the band emerging from the memoirs of guitarist and songwriter Timothy Ward and the band's vocalist Ray Mangigian. This is embellished with a load of stunning never-before-seen photos. Finally here's the legacy of an underrated, but excellent band direct from Los Angeles, the mid-sixties epicenter of jangle - The Roosters!)

Penthouse 5 - It's All My Own Bizarre Dream LP + 7"
(Hailing from the Dallas suburb Oak Cliff, The Penthouse 5 had its heyday in 1966-'67, when the band recorded a number of self-penned tunes and released two 45s. Several recordings from 1967 and other, more psychedelic influenced tracks remained unreleased, but demonstrate the musical versatility of the band. In 1966 the group underwent a substantial line-up change when three of the original band members, among them vocalist Rob Graham, left the group. He was replaced by Jon Williams, who had previously been with the By Fives and WordD. Alongside the Penthouse 5 recordings, the rare 7-inches of these closely linked bands are all collected for this release. Additionally an until now completely unknown 5-track '65 acetate rounds up this collection of rare and lost recordings by one of the greatest local '60s bands from the Lone Star State)

The Knight Riders - San Francisco 1965: The Autumn Session LP
(In 1965 The Knight Riders from Belmont on the San Francisco Peninsula recorded nine tracks for the legendary Autumn Records, also home of the Beau Brummels and responsiblefor the first studio recordings by The Grateful Dead and Grace Slick & The Great Society. It took three long years until one track from that session, the self-written garage punker 'I', was released on Vault Records' San Francisco Roots compilation album. It was this particular track that kept the band on the musical map over the years as a snotty '60s punk group from the Autumn Records roster. But it takes the complete session to prove the group's brilliance. Endowed with a great melodic feel, the enthusiasm of youth and the ability to sing astounding harmony vocals, the Knight Riders blended British Invasion and sixties garage-folk into amazíngly professional and impressive masterpieces. Over the years, one or two other tracks from the session found their way into the public domain, but the Knight Riders meanwhile grew famous amongst collectors for their rare late '60s psychedelic acetate LP recorded under the "Jungle" moniker. Represented here are the group's early roots as a young '60s garage band from the local San Francisco music scene, gifted with a musical legacy that would have made a great mid '60s album. Eight unbelievable catchy and infectious group originals and an unheard killer folk-rock harmony version of Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right" that has the same class as the Byrd's "Mr. Tambourine Man". Finally in its completeness and for the first time ever on vinyl - here are the Knight Riders)

The A-side 'Jailbait' is a true scorcher, which the band's bass player, vocalist and songwriter Bill Gradisher wrote with 'Louie Louie' in mind. This track also appeared on Vol. 7 of the legendary compilation series 'Back From The Grave'. The flip contains the equally exciting trashrocker 'Hard Times'. Back in the day this single -featuring teen sex tinged lyrics!- was the band's sole release, with originals nowadays fetching up to $400. Syndicate - The Egyptian Thing CD
(A collection of rare '60s L.A. garage rock taken from the band's 7-inches, plus four so far unreleased period recordings. The 8-page booklet offers pictures and band history by Mike Stax. The story of the Syndicate runs along similar lines to countless other rock'n'roll bands in the mid-sixties. They got together to have fun, made some noise on the local teen scene, recorded a couple of singles and then vanished into thin air, all within the space of the magical years 1965 and 1966. What makes the Syndicate special are those two hard-to-find singles. 'My Baby's Barefoot' and 'The Egyptian Thing', both released in 1965 are two of the most savage, hot-wired blasts of punk R&B mayhem ever etched into wax, while the flipside of 'The Egyptian Thing', entitled 'She Haunts You', showed the group were equally adept at moody, minor-key material. The 'Egyptian Thing' album presents the band's four A's & B's alongside four unreleased, same-calibre tracks from the same period, and an earlier 45 by the Ris-Kays featuring Syndicate front man Bill Rash. The ultimate Syndicate collection offers an unforgettable '60s garage-punk adventure)

Los Young Beats - The Exciting Sound Of Los Young Beats CD
(In November 1966, five young men entered the Suramericana de Grabaciones Studios in Bogot, Colombia. They were Los Young Beats and they had come to record their Tiempos, ellos estan cambiando LP. "Our favourite bands were the Rolling Stones, the Animals, Them and the Small Faces, and we wanted to play THEIR songs," recalls Young Beats drummer, Roberto Fiorilli. And so they did. Today this album is one of the rarest and most sought-after collectors items from the South American sixties beat scene, honoured with five circles in Hans Pokoras 1001 RC Dream Book. The fantastic news is that its been hauled out of obscurity and is now available to all who crave those cryptic 66 rave-up sounds - 11 cool and wild tracks, vocals alternating between English and Spanish. Youll be subjected to snarling versions of Baby Please Dont Go, Train Kept A Rolling, Heart Of Stone, For Your Love, Not Fade Away and You Really Got Me, and four 1967 bonus cuts by the Time Machine, the band that emerged from the ashes of the Young Beats. Read the Young Beats history as told by Roberto Fiorilli, and behold previously unseen photos on a glossy 2-page insert. Olivers - Lost Dove Sessions LP
(The Olivers from Fort Wayne, Indiana are best known for their highly sought after 1967 picture cover 45 on Phalanx Records titled 'I Saw What You Did' b/w 'Beeker Street'. The single got picked up by RCA Records for nationwide release and is today rated as one of the best and most exciting double sided major label garage 45s of the 1960s. A planned second single and LP release for RCA never happened. Long standing rumours of a "Lost LP" however, were confirmed when a one-of-a-kind reference acetate of an unreleased GRT album by The Olivers was found. The album, recorded after several line-up changes in early 1969 at Dove Studios in Minneapolis turned out to be a psychedelic jewel. An amazing album featuring the amazing rich and significant voice of leadsinger Billy Franze and on a par with the legendary psych albums of the era. 'Lost Dove Sessions' features the nine minute long 'Jessica Ryder', the spooky 'Mushroom', the brooding organ driven 'The End', psychers such as 'Ball Of Fire', heavy rockers such as 'Free' and the trippy never ending 11-minute slashing guitar freakout of 'Social Slavery'. Unjustifiably shelved 40 years ago, this amazing organ drenched fuzzfest proves that the band does not only deserve the plaudit "Indiana Sixties Rock Heroes", but also had the potential for the national breakthrough that never happened. The LP captures the incredible talent and versatility of the Olivers and adds an essential piece of vinyl to their discography. A four-page LP sized insert documents the band's career as told by its original members and a cache of unseen photos completes the band's 1963-1971 history)

Catherine's Horse - Garage Blues From Connecticut CD
(Due to a long time growing interest into local '60s rock, most band stories, even of those who did put out rare and local records, have since been written. Not so with Connecticut band Catherine's Horse. Their sole album dates from 1969 and was released only in an inner sleeve and no cover. Due to its rarity it is still a largely unknown release among today's record collectors and honoured with five stars in Hans Pokora's '1001 Record Collectors Dream Book'. But those who happen to be familiar with it, appreciate it for the fresh sound of the music and the clear production. That and the fact, that it's an amazing white blues rock album with a strong garage attitude provided by five high school students who never played professionally. The tracks are nearly all cover versions of classic, often moody blues tracks reminiscent of early Paul Butterfield Blues Band or Blues Project. Includes long time standards such as 'Good Morning Little School Girl', 'Think Twice', 'One More Mile' or 'Can't Keep From Cryin'' mixed with covers of Jimmy Brenston's 'Rocket 88' or Jagger/Richards' 'Good Times, Bad Times'. The only group original 'Sun Going Down' hints at the talent and potential the band had and rounds off the group's effortless white electric bluesrock expertise. As the vinyl release, this CD release comes with the originally intended coloured cover-art. The detailed booklet has the band's history as related by original members Roger Goodspeed, Jay Geary and Putnam Smith, alongside rare photos and memorabilia)

I Fenomeni - Un Vuoto Appeso LP
(Here we go and check some rather fresh band : I FENOMENI, formed in 2010 in Italy with the intention to create the dirtiest and most fuzzed out garage beat ever. Dirty guitar sounds and cheesy Farfisa organ lines on a solid and straightly pushing rhythmical substraction with some melodic vocals sung in Italian language are the ingredients of a joy and colorful record that feels like a lost gem from not later than 1967. Nobody could tell this was first released in 2013 and reissued right now. Sound, interplay, melodies and spirit speak of smoky clubs with swirls of colors ornamenting the walls and acid drenched drinks being served by topless waitresses in short skirts. You find yourself back in the mid sixties when it all began and the music here brings to mind tons of popular acts from that era. Starting with the early BYRDS, moving along to the US underground heroes such as THE SEEDS, THE STRAWBERRY ALARM CLOCK, THE THIRD BARDO or the later ANIMALS and psyched out JEFFERSON AIRPLANE stuff. If you look for innovations, please stop reading and grab some modern progressive rock for your own joy but if you want to be swallowed into a tunnel of sounds and colors where you can trip easy and free, this is yours. Despite the rather short length of these acid garage beat tunes you will leave what people call reality for a while. Everything here just grabs my soul and melts it away. Memorable melodies, moody riffs and those simmering fuzzed out lead guitars get me lose my senses. This is definitely addictive stuff. If you are a fan of current acid rock like BABY WOODROSE you will not only dig but definitely worship I FENOMENI. The language is rather not important in this context as the voice alone is commanding and you understand the message without understanding the language. Beautiful and haunting. A must have for all psyche and garage freaks)

Giobia - Magnifier CD
(The fourth album (the second on Sulatron) by Giöbia, the psychedelic sensation from Milano, Italy! The band plays intense neo-psychedelic-rock, strongly inspired by the sound of the late sixties. Next to guitars, bass, drums and organ the band uses sitar, bouzuki, vintage keyboards and effects to create a colourful and swirling sound. 'Magnifier' sucks you into a lysergic vortex of exotic mantras and Sabbathian rituals. The sound of this album is heavier and darker than the past records, but always unique. Art Boulevard - 1987>1985 A Story Backwards CD digipack
(Art Boulevard, born in 1985 in Bergamo (northern Italy), immediately stood out from the pack for their aesthetic and existential attraction to post-punk combined with a musical vision that was straight out of the late sixties: "rock as art" and not merely as an urgent expression of adolescent rebellion. This CD is a complete retrospective of all their songs, including their 'The Favorite Toy' EP (which got rave reviews at the time, but like the great majority of Italian releases, disappeared into obscurity), their two cassettes and their songs from the 'Arezzo Wave' and 'Pluto' compilations. In the 1990s Art Boulevard, now a trio with a drum machine and the name Orange Party, changed sound and identity, but that's another story. TRACKS: 01. That Is The Way 02. Everyplace, Everyhour 03. AA VV - She's A Heartbreaker - 20 Blue Eyed Soul Stings UK Floor Fillers - Vol. 4 CD
(The British truly love soul music, and though they may be better at importing rare records (and performers) than actually getting on the good foot themselves, that's not to say there haven't been plenty of real gems cut by U.K. R&B mavens, and Nick Saloman's fourth CD collection of rare blue-eyed soul singles from Old Blighty delivers some solid grooves and passionate vocal turns. Dave Hunter's cover of "Heartbreaker" (a hit for Gene Pitney which was co-written by Jerry "Swamp Dogg" Williams) gives the fine original a run for its money, Una Valli's swinging take on "Satisfaction" reveals that there was some potent R&B being produced in apartheid-era South Africa, expatriate soul diva Madeline Bell lends her vocal talents to "Can't Get It into My Head" by the Underground, Johnny Curtis manages to make the fairy tale lyrics of "Jack and the Beanstalk" sound tough and soulful despite themselves, and Tina Harvey's "Nowhere to Run" puts an effective new spin on Holland-Dozier-Holland's Motown classic. Kenny Bernard may have been setting himself up for cruel jokes with a song titled "Ain't No Soul," but the tune is a powerful Northern Soul groover with a spirited production, and Irish vocalist Margo manages a similar feat with "The Spark That Lights the Flame." And both Currant Kraze and Slam Creepers have the good sense to make music that's far less laughable than their names. She's a Heartbreaker is a better than average sampling of U.K. R&B and fans of the soulful side of British Beat would do well to give it a spin)

AA VV - Sensacional Soul DCd digipack
(37 groovie spanish soul & funk stompers from the 60s and 70s. Fuel for igniting dance floors and parties: thats what Spanish Soul was during the second half of the sixties. It was an eruption that filled the locals of major cities and touristy spots with sweat, dance, diversion and recognition. Soul didnt explode in Spain until after 1965 (the first hit was The Four Tops, "Reach Out I'll Be There"). Soul was approachable and had playful-vindicating references (messages in favor of civil rights didnt fall on deaf ears in a country subjected to the Francoist Dictatorship) which made it an ideal style for all young audiences. But once they were adopted by Soul, other problems arose. The brass section is one example: it wasnt easy finding musicians who knew how to play the trumpet, saxophone or the trombone. Despite this fact, the tourist phenomenon contributed to a great number of foreign musicians establishing themselves in Spain, enriching the sound of many groups dedicated to Black music. With all these ingredients Soul in Spain was possible -and with good groups too. Hundreds of bands from all over the country added to the new music paradigm and many managed to record. Some became success stories of Spanish Pop, others were known in smaller realms and disappeared into obscurity. For that reason Vampisoul is pleased to offer a selection of the best of Spanish Soul and Funk from the 60s and early 70s: music to dance to, from Benidorm to Tokyo... and back!)
