Q - Chemical Overload 12"Ep
(Brand new 4 track EP on 12inch with a stripped-down sound full of energy, soul and imagination. These guys celebrate a mind blowing mix of 60's RockPop and late 70's/early 80's Mod Revival/post-punk UK. But it doesn't stop here. Once again The Q capture that working class edge - the scuffles and annoyances from our streets and society today. Produced by Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers) the songs reminds to bands like the Damned, The Jam, Gang Of Four and the Godfathers to name a few!)

The results are no proto punk museum piece, but rather vital new music entirely worthy of a place alongside RB's early gems!)

Radio Moscow - Radio Moscow LP
(RADIO MOSCOW is a psychedelic blues rock trio from Ames, IA, led by guitarist/drummer/singer/songwriter Parker Griggs, and this, their self-titled debut album, is produced and engineered by BLACK KEYS guitarist/singer Dan Auerbach. Dan was given a demo by Parker after a BLACK KEYS gig in Colorado, and he liked it so much that he offered to produce their debut album in his own studio, The Pie Co, in Akron, OH. Parker Griggs (21) originally cut his teeth playing garage punk, but his sound, although heavily influenced by sixties garage music, is also channeled through the blues, with experimental breakdowns, unpredictable tempo changes, crazy rave-ups and fuzzed out psychedelic guitar work; the result is an exciting and truly distinctive sound. Parker plays all the instruments on the album except for bass, played by Luke Duff (21), and slide guitar on "Deep Blue Sea", which is played by Dan Auerbach. RADIO MOSCOWs debut is a guitar album reminiscent of the pre-punk era, and it will certainly delight fans of the BLACK KEYS and COMETS ON FIRE alike)

Their surfguitars have a Punk Rock attitude which sounds somewhat influenced by THE CRAMPS, and the two singers Doctor Ds & Rosies voices combined with fast and energydriven rhythm and drums just are great Grarage-Punk. Their new album CABALLERO consists among others of instrumental songs, their great special combination of Surfmusic and wild Rocknroll, which unquestionably works; fast, energetic songs like "Dopamine" or on the other hand their dramatic and a bit more classical surf piece "Mojito Lounge" can only prove this. "Told me not to run" or "Walking down the line" are examples of their wild and punky vocal songs, which are no less convincing than their instrumentals)

Though the band's influences are closer to the 80's sound of the Miracle Workers or the Untold Fables, it's a cover of a 60's garage-punk classic, 60 Second Swinger by Little Phil & The Night Shadows, that can be found on the B-Side. An outrageous rendition of the song, that fits perfectly on this new 60SS' release.

In this new album , the band always digs deeper in the dirt of the marsh mud revealing new stories - such as blood soaked dreams - that you can listen to by lovers and the drunken monkeys patrons of the cafe of the cemetery.
13 tracks , 3 taken from the latest 7" "Noi Siamo zombies", in which the masked band pours 17 years of wild freedom and madness.
Once again the Rockabilly psycho, the Garage Punk and the Blues blend with the texts engraved with nails on the toilet walls of the cemetery cafe overlooking hell.

The album starts with "Rock'n'Roll o Morte" whose beginning is a brief tribute to the late 50s Desperate Rock'n'roll, "Rock'n'Roll Guitar" by Johnny Knight (1958). The Headcoats - Elementary 3LP
(Reissue of their classic singles compilation on 3 LPs with new gatefold sleeve!
A retrospective compilation of singles released on a multitude of different labels throughout the 90?s. Featured tracks are '(We Hate The Fuckin')  NME ' 'My Dear Watson' & 'Every Bit Of Me'. A fitting tribute to one of the greatest bands ever.
Thee Headcoats were mainly Billy Childish (Git/Vox) Bruce Brand (Drums) and Johnny Johnson (bass), they formed in 1989 after Billy's previous band Thee Mighty Caesers gave up the ghost. By 1992 they had already released something like 6 albums and 15 singles one of which was catalogue number Damgood1, a split single with Thee Headcoatees.
During the '90?s I must have seen them 60 times, I even went over to Japan with them in 1993. There was something really natural about them, no bullshit. We did the 'We hate The Fuckin'  NME ' single after journalist Johnny Cigarettes walked out of their gig in Archway after insisting that he should get in for free as he was from the  NME  and then reviewing Thee Headcoatees by saying there were no girls in the band (he'd left before they came onstage!!).
Lots more releases followed including the great 'In Tweed We Trust' album. Thee Headcoats carried on touring and releasing records in every corner of the world until mid 2000 when they called it a day.

(Increasingly fierce, the Closer Records Team has it in mind to comb the world over: Europe in particular to find the wildest R'N'R pearls and offer them up to you; Bruce Joyner (USA), The Curse (Sweden), Peter Zaremba (USA), Crummy Stuff (Canada) Primevals (Scotland), The Dark Rags (Greece), The Trap (Switzerland) ... Now here they are ... The Last Killers, a shaggy and bloodthirsty quartet from Ravenna, Italy. If their background, in addition to the gang's recent efforts, smelt of the noblest of 60's Garage persuasions, The Last Killers channel the history of the Rock'n'Roll groove as homage to the classic savagery of Little Richard or The Sonics and bear the torch last carried by none other than the Jim Jones Revue. With "Dangerous", our Trans-Alpiners unleash their demons without restraint and fire off a flurry of hits right out of the gate! The 60's organ lines that haunted their first release leave more room for frantic piano parts ( la "The Killer", Jerry Lee Lewis), the beat gets straight to the point without embellishment or flourish, the guitars spread in all directions, fuzzy and distorted, the nasty and rabid vocals erupt, reminiscent of the good ol' Gerry Roslie days... As you can see, all the ingredients are gathered here for a pure & wild Rock'n'Roll album, combative and extremely tense, like Jake Lamotta on speed!)

Disillusioned insight pervades the song in a repeating musical motive and rides toward an inevitable finale. The solution for the proposed problem in TIDES is not that simple. With that in mind, the band takes more time to describe in weltering rhythm how hard it can be to clarify your own needs. An environment for contemplation is created with extra long guitar solos, a wonderful tambourine pattern and a drum break that starts the song. (Composed of ex-members from Los Tigres Guapos, the Motards, Bulemics, Teen Cool, Secret Lovers, and Reclusives, this Austin fivepiece throws their hat into the punk-seasoned rock & roll arena with their energy-oozing debut. From potent opener "Portions of the Whole" and the tightly wrapped "Pimp Killer" to closer "Shock Theatre", Snitches Get Stitches is full of cinderblock guitars, 55-gallon drums, warehouse bass, and sneering vociferous vocals, all delivered with the kind of oomph that landed the band an opening slot for Slaughter & the Dogs. Packed with 12 toe-tapping originals -- like the done-wrong "Happy" and the existential crisis of "Human Bondage" -- Snitches distinguishes the Ritchie Whites from other like-minded heavy outfits thanks to the entire group contributing vocals. "Honky Tonk Satisfaction" implies that the band's been soaking up Motörhead, and "Bush League Rock Star" is a tribute to the Ramones. Closer "Shock Theatre" demonstrates that the band can successfully deviate from the standard punk formula by adding sonic texture, an avenue they should explore more in the future. Embracing the punk aesthetic of short bursts of volumized music, half of the songs are under two minutes, hitting like a switchblade -- sharp, quick, and very much to the point. So short, in fact, that the entire album could nearly fit on one album side. Which is about the only critique a hard rockin' fan could have...)

The Rock'n'roll Kamikazes - All Kinds Of People Lp
(
The Rock'n'Roll Kamikazes are extremely serious about this rock'n'roll thing. Already two years down the line since their first album "Tora! Tora! Tora!"
was released to wide critical aclaim and they've been bombarding and strafing stages all of italy and europe with their original sound, not som much rockabilly
but a mean, fast rhythm and blues, with hints of swing and 60s soul. The Kamikazes started out in 2010 when Andy Macfarlane stepped out from
the burning fuselage of The Hormonauts after 10 years of hormonizing around the world, and teamed up with old friend Peppe DeGregoriis (drummer with
Little Victor and the Boomers, Alessandro Cicognani and other italian bluesmen) and decided to show the world exactly where rock'n'roll was born...from the blues.
Joined on double bass by Nicolò Fiori-moustached flying ace who has played alongside the likes of Michael Goddard, Frank London and Aleksandar Rjkovic (from Gorn Bregovic's line up) with his band Gatta Molesta, and on saxophone, the Samurai of Swing, Guy Portoghese. Guy was the leader of Bari's Guy E Gli
Specialisti and brought to the Kamikazes some breathtaking sax solos, dirty low-down blues harp playing and a whole lot of grinning, laughing fun! Sadly Guy
flew his last mission on October 4th 2012 and will be sorely missed. R.I.P. Guy. Like all good pilots, the Kamikazes do not give up in the face of adversity and
have come bouncing back with a new album, "All Kinds Of People" on Go Down Records (the Kamikazes fondly call GoDown the new Chess Records).
It's bluesier, its harder, it shrieks like Screaming Jay Hawkins and growls like Howlin Wolf and there's even a track written and sung by Guy himself! (Tutti i
Venerdì).
The album introduces new recruit Eugenio Pritelli, guitarist and frontman from the wild psychobilly phenomenon The Horrible Porno Stuntmen! His
razor-edged telecaster twang gives the band a new harder sound, and high-lighting their punkier roots.
With this varied and explosive line- up The Rock'n'Roll Kamikazes have set their sights on the target. No, it's not a simple aircraft carrier but nothing less
than world domination. The album is the fuse and the band is the bomb. They are primed and ready and there will be no turning back. The Kamikazes are
ready to explode in public. They will dive bomb your dives and disjoint your juke-joints; shake your shacks and rock your socks and pants off! A divine wind
of Rock'n'Roll will blow upon the masses!)

The Skeptics - Lonely, Black And Blue Lp
(Chances are, if you picked this record, you know what you're headin' for. If you don't, let me tell you this; you'd better gear up for an unhealthy dose of raw garage punk. But what makes this band all so different from any other garage punk outfit out there, I hear you say? Well, maybe it's the fact that the band doesn't fuck around with superfluous crap and certainly manages to keep it simple and efficient. That could be explained by the fact that what is now a full-blown band (well, a three-piece to be exact), started as a one-man project in a dirty garage somewhere (OK I actually don't know WHERE it started but I assume it's a garage). So maybe Bart (Vox & guitar) was limited by his ability to play all the instruments back then and it showed in his compositions, but most likely, he just knows how to write a good garage song! But don't think that the Skeptics went all fancy 'cuz Bart got himself a real band (that's Kristal on bass & vocals and Xavier on drums). The songs sound as vicious as ever and the formula stays the same, thick fuzz, skin bashing, gnarly vocals and straightforward riffs. And yet, we're led to believe that those garage-heads dig stuff other than their '60s punk comps if we're to listen to their fuzz-driven rendition of Chrissy Zebby Tembo's 'Troublemaker'. And I gotta say, that's another point for the Skeptics, cause who seriously wants to hear another cover of Wildman? Anyway, I'm not gonna go into much more details about the sound of the Skeptics cuz if you're reading this, the record can't be that far and you should just give it a spin instead of wasting your time with my rambling. The title track seems to be a start-back-from-where-we-left statement, as The Strange Flowers go back to the atmospheres of the psychedelic ballads of Music for Astronauts. Extremely melancholic and visionary, the song is a true trip across open spaces where sounds and words melt into a moody picture. The following two songs, a powerful cover of 13th Floor Elevators Youre gonna miss me and the original, contaminated psycho-garage song Youve been a queen, are a sort of tribute to the roots of psychedelic rock, but still sounds and atmospheres tend to be self-exploring and unquiet. The last song is a cover of Pink Floyds Green is the Color, in which, again, The Strange Flowers depict a decadent, moody environment. In a season in which psychedelic and garage rock are put aside, The Strange Flowers show that it is still possible to play inspired music and provide a source of inspiration to the listener!)

So people of the Blue Planet, you better run for cover or learn how to dance the Martian Boogaloo because these new kings of Fuzz are here to conquer the world and No Human Will Get Out Alive....)

Thee Spivs - Taped Up Lp
(This is one of the most talked about bands you've never heard off, Thee Spivs have been playing raw and primal garage punk music all over London for the last t hree years in any venue, party or street that will take them. After forming in 2007, members, Ben Edge (Guit/Vox) Dan May (bass) and Steve Coley (drums) quickly gained a reputation for their energetic and unpredictable live performances. They met up with Liam Watson from ToeRag studios in 2009 and recorded a few tracks of which two tracks came out as a limited one off 7" on 1965 records in late 2009. After a successful European tour in spring 2010 they set off recording their debut album, 'Taped Up' which is now complete and ready to be released on Damaged Goods in November 2010. It features 14 tracks (12 on the vinyl) including their first single 'It's True' plus their new single 'I Don't Want It'. It's an edgy mix of punk, garage and a bit of rock'n'roll, it's a storming debut!)

Tunnel of Love - Rock'n'rollin Bitches Lp
(Equal parts Guitar Wolf (the noise & fury, man!), early Flamin' Groovies (the pinnacle of trad rock'n'roll in a post '55 world), and the Electric Eels & Slayer (for pure fucked-upedness and extreme Satanism), this 14 track LP clocks in at a modest 25 minutes, yet delivers more devastating music than most bands' entire discographies. Tunnel of Love never practice, but every now and then they assemble in public, decked out in black and white striped tights and black capes, ripping apart punk clubs and leaving audiences stunned. This is truly the most bad-ass rock'n'roll band on earth. You can either get down or you can get out of their way!)
